(“AnchorFree”) recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of all information provided to us by any user of www.anchorfree.com, any other web sites, services or software owned, operated or made available by AnchorFree (“AnchorFree Sites”) (collectively or individually “User(s)”).

This Privacy Notice is incorporated into and is subject to the AnchorFree Sites Terms of Use. Your use of AnchorFree Sites and any personal information you provide on AnchorFree Sites remains subject to the terms of this Privacy Notice, and any applicable terms of use: the anchorfree.com Terms of Use; the Hotspot Shield Software License and Terms of Service; and the Hotspot Terms of Service.

The Information AnchorFree Collects:

• User Provided Information: In utilizing any or all AnchorFree services, including HotSpot Shield, Rewards Bar, and other services offered by AnchorFree (collectively, “AnchorFree Services”), you may be asked to provide your name and email address, and you may elect to provide to AnchorFree additional “personally identifiable” information (such as your postal mailing address, home/mobile telephone numbers, credit card number and billing information, etc.). Additionally, you may choose to participate in other promotional activities offered by AnchorFree such as frequent usage rewards programs, surveys or contests.
• “Cookies” Information: When you visit AnchorFree Sites, we may send one or more cookies – a small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters – to your computer. AnchorFree may use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to AnchorFree Sites. These persistent type of cookies can be removed, but each web browser is a little different, so please look through your browser “Help” file to learn the correct way to modify your cookies set-up.

• “Automatically Collected” Information: When you utilize any of the AnchorFree Services including download or use the applicable software, we automatically record certain information from your web browser by using different types of proprietary technology, all of which is stored locally on your computer (“Automatically Collected Information”). Automatically Collected Information gathered at when you sign up for an AnchorFree account may include your Internet Protocol address (“IP Address”), the date and time of your visit to such AnchorFree Site, and your web browser type. Other Automatically Collected Information gathered by AnchorFree may include searches you perform, geographic location data, and all web sites that you visit and pages you view on such sites. Additionally, AnchorFree may store some combination of this data locally on your computer to aid its advertising targeting capabilities.

The Way AnchorFree Uses Information:

• AnchorFree uses your name and email address, without further consent, to allow you to have an individualized account on particular AnchorFree Sites and AnchorFree Services and for administrative purposes such as notifying you of major AnchorFree Sites updates or additional offerings from AnchorFree.
• AnchorFree uses or may use Automatically Collected Information and cookies information to: (a) provide custom, personalized advertisements, content, and information; (b) monitor the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns; (c) monitor aggregate usage metrics such as total number of visitors, and pages viewed; and (d) track your entries, submissions, and status in promotions, sweepstakes, and contests.
• AnchorFree will not use your email address or other personally identifiable information to send promotional or marketing messages for third parties other than AnchorFree without your consent or except as part of a specific program or feature for which you will have the ability to opt-in. AnchorFree will use personally identifiable information (including credit card information) for the purpose for which you provided such information.

When AnchorFree Discloses Information:

• We may disclose User information if required to do so by law, or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with state and federal laws (such as U.S. Copyright law) or respond to a court order, judicial or other government subpoena, or warrant.
• We also reserve the right to disclose User information that we believe, in good faith, is appropriate or necessary to: enforce the Terms of Use; take precautions against liability; protect Users from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful uses; to investigate and defend ourselves against any third-party claims or allegations; to assist government enforcement agencies; to protect the security or integrity of AnchorFree Sites; and to protect the rights, property, or personal safety of AnchorFree, our members, or others.
• We do not share User provided personally identifiable information with other third-party organizations for their marketing or promotional use without your consent except as part of a specific program or feature for which you will have the ability to opt-out.
• Automatically Collected Information may be shared with third parties as set forth in the section of this policy relating to Third Party Advertisers.

Your Choices:

You may, of course, decline to share personally identifiable information with AnchorFree, in which case AnchorFree will not be able to provide certain services to you. You may update, correct, or delete your member information at any time by going to the log-in section of AnchorFree Sites.

To protect your privacy and security, we take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you member profile access or making corrections. You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique password and account information at all times.

Third-party Advertisers, Links to Other Sites:

AnchorFree allows other companies, called third-party ad servers or ad networks, to serve advertisements within AnchorFree Sites. These third-party ad servers or ad networks use technology and Automatically Collected Information to send, directly to your browser, the advertisements and links that appear on AnchorFree Sites. They may also use Automatically Collected Information and other technologies (such as cookies, javascript, or web beacons) to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and to personalize advertising content.

AnchorFree does not provide any User provided personally identifiable information to these third-party ad servers or ad networks without your consent or except as part of a specific program or feature for which you will have the ability to opt-in. However, please note that if an advertiser asks AnchorFree to show an advertisement to a certain audience (for example, men ages 16-18) or audience segment (for example, men ages 16-18 who have viewed certain channels of videos) and you respond to that advertisement, the advertiser or ad-server may conclude that you fit the description of the audience they were trying to reach.

AnchorFree’s Privacy Notice does not apply to, and we cannot control the activities of, such other advertisers or web sites, and you should consult their respective privacy policies.

Our Commitment to Data Security:

AnchorFree uses commercially reasonable physical, managerial, and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your personal information. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to AnchorFree and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission of information, AnchorFree makes commercially reasonable efforts to ensure the security of our systems. However, please note that this is not a guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.

If AnchorFree learns of a security systems breach, then we may attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take appropriate protective steps. AnchorFree may post a notice on AnchorFree Sites if a security breach occurs. Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to receive notice of a security breach in writing. Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy:

Protecting the privacy of young children is especially important. For that reason, AnchorFree does not knowingly collect or maintain personally identifiable information or automatically collected information on AnchorFree Sites from persons under 13 years of age, and no part of our website is directed to persons under 13. If you are under 13 years of age, then please do not use or access AnchorFree Sites at any time or in any manner. If AnchorFree learns that personally identifiable information of persons under 13 years of age has been collected on AnchorFree Sites without verifiable parental consent, then AnchorFree will take the appropriate steps to delete this information.

AnchorFree Sites is hosted in the United States and is intended for and directed to Users in the United States. If you are a User accessing AnchorFree Sites from the European Union, Asia, or any other region with laws or regulations governing personal data collection, use, and disclosure, that differ from United States laws, please be advised that through your continued use of AnchorFree Sites, which is governed by U.S. law, this Privacy Notice, and our Terms of Use, you are transferring your personal information to the United States and you consent to that transfer.

In the Event of Merger or Sale:

In the event that AnchorFree is acquired by or merged with a third party entity, we reserve the right, in any of these circumstances, to transfer or assign the information we have collected from Users as part of such merger, acquisition, sale, or other change of control. In the unlikely event of AnchorFree’s bankruptcy, insolvency, reorganization, receivership, or assignment for the benefit of creditors, or the application of laws or equitable principles affecting creditors' rights generally, we may not be able to control how your personal information is treated, transferred, or used.

Changes and updates to this Privacy Notice:

This Privacy Notice may be revised periodically and this will be reflected by the “last modified” notice below. Please revisit this page to stay aware of any changes. In general, we only use your personal information in the manner described in the Privacy Notice in effect when we received that personal information.
